Day 25 (lock down)

Friday 17th April - bike **** - Felixstowe circuit – Sunny but windy.

After having been out three days in a row and with a strong East blowing it looked like it was going to be a rest day, but it was another lovely sunny day and after doing my exercises in the garden we decided to get have a cycle as we didn’t fancy a blustery walk along the prom! So, we avoided the coast as it is very difficult to go near the water on a perfect windsurfing day so headed inland in search of some sheltered woods! Our first port of call was The Grove, a small wood on the outskirts of Felixstowe well used by dog walkers but it was very quiet today. We turn left at Gulpher Road to Candlet Track after having seen a Hare:) Under the A 14 to Trimley to the big green footbridge, over to the deer field, sadly no deer and over to the lane down to Loompit Lake where we make a small detour around a couple of small fishing lakes. Then at the turning to the tree lined return to Felixstowe we spot the deer towards Levington:) It is then a long sheltered run on the footpath through the trees’ passing the small pond with the huge willow tree with loads of farming activity, large sprinklers going and several tractors working in the fields and had a Marsh Harrier fly past really close too. Then it’s over the Dock spur road and into a headwind home. We are pleased we made the effort to get out despite the wind and managed to find a lot of sheltered routes too!
With lots of wind forecast for the next week it is going to be very hard on a poor old windsurfer who is not allowed out on the water, also not great biking conditions !!!
